Business Permits

If you are the principal occupier of a business in a resident parking area, you may apply for the issue of a business permit. The permit allows you to park your vehicle in one of our parking zones. Only one annual business permit will be issued per property.

The resident parking zones are:

KR02 – South Quay & King’s Staithe Square
KR03 – Portland Street & Waterloo Street
KR04 – Highgate & Eastgate Area
KR05 – All Saints St & Bridge St
KR06 – Springwood

The permit is for vehicles that will be parked on the street within the residents parking zone.

A permit is not needed for parking on your business driveway.

You may also apply for one annual visitor permit or up to 365 virtual permits per property per year. However, if you have an annual visitor permit you will not be eligible for both. Once you have registered your details for virtual permits, you can purchase them as and when your visitors require them.

Motorbikes, mopeds and all powered two-wheelers do not require a permit.

Blue badge holders

Business owners that have a valid blue badge are entitled to a free permit, one per property. You’ll need to display the blue badge on your windscreen at all times.

How to apply

The easiest way to apply is online. You can upload the required documentation with your application.

To apply for a business parking permit, you’ll need:

your vehicle registration number
the vehicle’s DVLA registration document (the address on the DVLA document does not need to match your permit application)
a business rates bill or utility bill for the business address dated within the last 3 months

What happens next

Once we receive your application, we will review the details you have provided and will either accept your application or ask for more information.

If your permit application is accepted, you will receive an email to confirm this and, if you have applied for a virtual permit, you can park straight away.

If your permit is a physical permit you will need to wait until this arrives in the post before parking in the zone.

If your permit requires further information we will ask you to provide what is needed and you cannot park in the zone until your permit is approved.

You’ll need to renew your permit each year. We’ll email you 30 days in advance of your permit needing renewal, please add no-reply@mipermit.com to your safe senders list to ensure your email does not go into your spam folder. This is a courtesy email, and it remains your responsibility to make sure your permit is valid.

Notifying us of a change

To make a change to your permit, you’ll need to log in to your Mipermit account and make a vehicle change application.

If you still have an old paper permit, you’ll need to contact us to make a change. Please note, there is a £15 administration charge for any changes to permits. Pro-rata refunds will be given on Residents Permits (minus the £15 administration charge), there are no refunds available for visitor permits.

If you’re purchasing a new vehicle, you may not have your DVLA registration document. Please visit MiPermit and login to your account, from there you can select the Vehicle Change option and complete the information required. To change your vehicle you will need to supply an invoice for the vehicle or proof of insurance, either document must show your name, address and the car details including Vehicle Registration Mark.
